After graduation
In addition to a bachelor's degree, graduates are qualified to prepare, prospect, organize, manage and carry out archaeological measures, such as excavations and research projects, to independently work on archaeological finds, to create scientific manuscripts and concepts in the areas of public relations and cultural mediation, and to look after and manage archaeological monuments. The knowledge enables the interdisciplinary, sometimes scientific, questions that are specifically necessary for the evaluation of archaeological finds. In addition to the actual areas of responsibility of prehistory and historical archaeology, students have the necessary knowledge to work on social, economic and cultural-political processes from the perspective of an anthropological, historical and cultural-historical discipline. Only by integrating real-world sources can a multifaceted historical and cultural-historical picture be developed.
Therefore, graduates can work in the following areas, among others:
- Monument offices
- Museums or museum institutions (e.g. federal museums, archaeological/cultural science collections)
- Research or teaching institutions (universities, academies, etc.)
- Cultural and scientific departments as well as culture-specific operating companies of public institutions/Cultural and scientific departments of various media (electronic and print media, publishers)
- Scientific societies and associations (preferably with an archaeological focus)
